Kentucky: Asbury

Saturday morning Charles and MC fixed a delicious pancake breakfast. After breakfast we headed to Wilmore to check out Asbury where Charles will be attending seminary in the fall.

Wilmore is a very small town. The buildings at the school are traditional and beautiful with big white columns. It was cool to see where Charles will be going to classes, and of course take some pictures.

After checking out the campus and downtown Wilmore, we headed back towards Lexington. We checked out the Target and the mall and had some lunch. We also stopped by Orange Leaf for some frozen yogurt. Delicious. We also found the Bluegrass Barkery where we bought some doggie treats for sweet Daisy Duke!

Then, we headed to Danville to see the church where Charles will be working as a youth pastor. We headed back to the apartment for some leftover Lasagna and homemade chocolate chip cookies.

Charles and MC's apartment backs up to a horse farm, so after dinner we went out to the fence to see if we could see any of the horses. There were four that were close enough to get a good look at. One even came over and let us pet him, but he didn't want any of the lettuce we brought!

We spent the rest of the evening watching movies and playing Apples to Apples! It was a lot of fun!

Kentucky Road Trip

Friday morning Jason and I headed to Kentucky to visit Charles and MC. We started our trip off right with some Chick-Fil-A for breakfast and made our way to our first stop, Chattanooga. In Chattanooga, we checked up on one of Jason's jobs before continuing on toward Kentucky. We stopped for lunch at Aubrey's just outside Knoxville. It was delicious!

Welcome to Kentucky!
When we finally got off at Charles and MC's exit, Jason stopped for a Diet Coke and got stung by a bee! After a quick stop for some Benadryl, we finally made it to their apartment. Charles made Lasagna for dinner and MC made tiramisu for dessert. It was a late birthday celebration!

My gift included this awesome painting by Charles and MC!

After dinner, we went for a walk around their new neighborhood. It's a nice neighborhood, and their apartment is really nice too! Because we were tired from traveling, we headed to bed early. We wanted to be rested up to check out Asbury on Saturday!

Psalm 18:1-2 (NLT)
"I love you, LORD; you are my strength. The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety."

She Loves Me, She Loves Me Not

I'm linking up with Michaela to share some things I'm loving and not loving today.

I'm Loving:

1. My new Shark steam cleaner. It was a birthday gift, and I used it for the first time today!

2. That I found a cute dress and a shirt on clearance yesterday at the outlet mall.

3. Our new washer and dryer. Now getting the laundry done is so much faster!

4. That I get to see my brother and sister in law this weekend!!

5. My sweet husband. He is such a hard worker, and I am so blessed to have him as my husband and best friend!

I'm Not Loving:

1. How fast time is flying by! It seems like this year just started and it's already almost August!!

2. Having to work every other weekend. It's not ideal, but hopefully it won't be forever.

Happy Wednesday!

Twenty-Five

Yesterday was my birthday, and I am officially 25 years old.
It's a little bit hard to believe...

The celebration started last week when Jason, my parents, and a couple of friends surprised me with a birthday dinner. Jason smoked some salmon, our friends brought over all the sides, and Daddy made his famous banana pudding for dessert. It was a fun surprise!

The birthday celebration continued with a trip to the lake with friends on Sunday after church. It was a perfect lake day, not too hot. Jason got a new camper grill, so we were able to grill hamburgers and hot dogs for lunch. It was yummy! We stopped at a marina for a choco taco for dessert!

Love!

Beautiful skyline when we got home from the lake!
Yesterday I woke up to a chicken biscuit from Chick-fil-A, beautiful pink roses, and a sweet card from Jason.

My mom also decorated our doors in the basement with Happy Birthday banners!

Jason and I went shopping yesterday for my birthday. It was fun to spend time with Jason even though I wasn't able to find anything for myself. We had lunch at Moe's and then Sweet Monkey's for dessert!

After shopping Mom and I went to get our nails done. I got a manicure and pedicure. It was relaxing and good quality time with my mom.

Love the natural color I picked!
For dinner I got to pick the restaurant, so we headed to Maggiano's. We ate some yummy Italian food and even had leftovers to bring home!

Back at home, I opened the gifts from my parents- a beautiful green scarf and the Shark steam cleaner!

I have been wanting one of these! I can't wait to clean with it :)
Mom made my birthday cake, a sour cream cake. It's my Nana's recipe. Sour cream cake has always been my favorite of Nana's!

Cutting the cake. It was delicious!
It was a great birthday! I am very thankful for my family and friends who made it special!

Philippians 1:6

I decided to choose a verse for the blog.
I chose Philippians 1:6,
"And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns." (NLT)

I started this blog when Jason and I took a step of faith a few months before our wedding (read the post here). I wanted to be able to document the changes in our lives as well as God's teachings and provision. God started his good work in each of us individually when we accepted Christ, but I feel he started something in us as a couple as well. While we still don't know exactly what God has planned for our future, we know that He will finish what He started!

Fourth of July

This year the Fourth of July went entirely different than I expected.
To be honest, I wasn't expecting much. It's my work week, so I knew I would be sleeping all day. Jason went to North Carolina with his parents for the day, and originally told me he wouldn't be back until after I had to leave for work.

Jason and his parents ended up coming back early. They were already on their way back when I woke up around 3:30. Jason suggested we have dinner together, so I started trying to figure out what to fix. Jason was able to grill some chicken and steak when he got back, and I took care of the asparagus, potatoes, biscuits, sweet tea, and brownies for dessert. It was a feast! And my parents came to eat brownies with us for dessert. It was a fun time with family!

Jason's parents brought their dog, a maltese named Bella, so she and Daisy had a great time playing together. They chased the ball and chased each other all around the house. It was so funny to watch them! And Daisy is wore slap out today! :)

I hope everyone had a wonderful Fourth!
I am so thankful for our freedom and all those who have and who do fight to protect it!
