This Week

This week has been very busy, but I have been off work which is very nice!
I have been reading 11th Hour by James Patterson. I love his Women's Murder Club books, and this one is no exception. I'm getting close to the end, and it has been really good so far!

On Tuesday night, our friends Josh and Savannah invited us to a Braves game. She got free tickets from work on the second row! It was fun to go and sit so close to the diamond, and the Braves actually won!

On Wednesday, we met with a builder about the possibility of building us a house. Things are definitely moving forward, so hopefully there will be more news to share next week!
Wednesday we also found out that the washer and dryer we ordered from Home Depot at the end of May would not be coming at the end of June like they said. Someone called to tell us it wouldn't be until the end of July! Ridiculous! We returned it and went to Brandsmart to check out what they had. We found the same models for the same price as Home Depot and they were right there in the store! We brought them home the same night on the back of the truck, and Jason set them up yesterday! I'm excited to have my own washer and dryer again!

We also had breakfast at Cracker Barrel. They have new berry pancakes with blueberries and blackberries. It was so good!

Daisy got a new toy this week. She also had to go to the vet for her yearly check up and shots. She was not a happy camper, but she survived and got some treats out of the deal! We also got her a life jacket yesterday. Last year we took her out on the boat, and she really liked it. Hopefully, she can go again soon!

Last night, Charles and MC and some of their friends were here. We all went to dinner at Outback, then to Sweet Monkeys for frozen yogurt! (Our second trip this week.)

YUM!
Charles and MC are headed to Kentucky today. Their big move has finally arrived. I am hoping to go visit in a few weeks when they get settled in!

I'm looking forward to a fun/relaxing weekend!

High on Summertime

I love summer.
There are just some great things that only happen in the summertime.

Warm weather.
Longer days.
Lake days.
Lake Lanier
Peaches.
Watermelon.
Wearing dresses.
Sandals and painted toe nails.
Vacation.
Jamaican vacation
My birthday.
Summer songs.
If I were to make a summer soundtrack, I would start with "Drunk on You" by Luke Bryan and "Springsteen" by Eric Church.

I hope y'all are enjoying summer as much as I am!

A Long Weekend

Last weekend Jason and I decided to take a couple of days and go camping in North Carolina.
We have friends in Andrews and Robbinsville, so we figured we could visit everyone too! Our friends in Robbinsville have a youth camp/retreat center called Whisper Mountain. It just so happens that Whisper Mountain also has a camper hook up, so that's where we made our home.

We loaded up and headed to Robbinsville on Thursday afternoon. We made it to Whisper Mountain a little after 6, and it was pouring down rain! Fortunately, the rain didn't last long, and we were able to get the camper unhooked from the truck and hooked up to the water and electricity without getting soaked.

Our home away from home
After saying hello to everyone, we went into town to get something to eat at one of the local restaurants, Lynn's Place. We heard it was the best place in town, and it was really good!

After dinner we spent some time with our friend, Ramsey. He and Jason played video games while I tried, unsuccessfully, to keep my eyes open!

On Friday we had breakfast at Whisper Mountain and got to see some beautiful views of the sun coming up over the mountains. Some turkeys showed up on the field at camp too!

The toms were trying to impress the ladies!
Then we headed to Andrews to visit Brandon and Jenny and the kids. We took Tatham Gap which is a gravel road through the mountain instead of going around the mountain on the paved road.

It was a beautiful drive. Everything was green and flowers were in bloom!

These flowers were everywhere!

In Andrews we ran errands and hung out with Jenny and the kids and their new puppy. Later in the afternoon we headed back to Whisper Mountain. There Jason got to work on the bulldozer to scrape one of their gravel roads. It had been washed out by the rain. For dinner we tried another local restaurant. It was good too, but we liked Lynn's Place better!

Saturday morning we went to Lake Santeetlah. Jason and most of the others jumped off a big rock and a bridge. I just watched! The lake was beautiful. It was surrounded by mountains!

After the lake, we headed back to Andrews. We had dinner with Brandon and Jenny and the kids before heading back home.

Gorgeous sky, almost back home!
We got back home Saturday night to be home for Father's Day.
Sunday we went to church with my family (Charles and MC came too!), then grilled out for lunch.

We went down to Jason's parents' house for dinner and to hang out with his dad. We are very thankful to have such wonderful father's and families!

We had a great long weekend. I am hopeful for a few more long weekends during the summer!

Lately

There has been more going on in the life of the Ellis's than Jamaica and Charles's wedding. Here's a peek into what has been going on lately.

We've spent  a couple of days on the lake.

We went to an antique shop in our town and found a great deal on a secretary desk we've been looking for. It's in great condition!

Secretary Desk!
We went to my friend's wedding. She's a friend from pharmacy school, so it was great to see her and some other friends and be able to catch up on life since graduation.

We have also been feeling very grown up. We got new phones and got a plan of our own. We also had to buy a new washer and dryer because ours pooped out on us after we got back from Jamaica. And we have been doing some serious house hunting. I guess in our house being a grown up equals spending money! :)

Charles's Wedding: The Reception

After Charles and MC officially became husband and wife, we took a bunch of pictures outside. I was only able to get a couple of pictures since we had to be in some of them!

After pictures we headed to the reception. It was in the fellowship hall of the church where the rehearsal dinner had been.

We ate some yummy food and mingled until it was time to cut the cake!

After more pictures, more mingling, the bouquet toss, and the garter toss, it was time for the bubbly exit!

Charles's Wedding: The Ceremony

The ceremony was set to start at 2 pm, so around 1:30 we headed into the church to get seated.

Candles in each window
The ceremony started with some friends of Charles and MC singing a few songs. Then the mothers came in to light the unity candles.

Then the processional started. Our cousin started the song on the piano, and Charles and the pastor came out.
